Pour tout l’or du monde (2010) by Olivier Dubois

He conceived of his first solo Under Cover in 1999. His shows, such as Pour tout l’or du monde créé, created in 2006 for the Festival d’Avignon, are full of irony with regards to the academic world of classical dance, and Dubois doesn’t hesitate to ask the spectator ‘’Who’s the ridiculous one? My body? Or the rules of dance?’’ Funny and moving, Olivier Dubois tours his shows throughout France.

A late-blooming and atypical dancer, Olivier Dubois began his training with Laura Simi and Damanio Foa at the advanced age of 24. With a round, curvy body, his particular morphology wasn’t one destined for a dancer. All the same, Dubois decided to confront his unsatisfied desire to dance. And his body dances – it moves, and it does so with grace. It didn’t take him long to start making his own choreographic projects, which for him are an occasion to use his talent for derision.

In 2008, in Faunes, he re-interprets Vaslav Nikinski’s dance under the direction of Dominique Brun, at the Festival d’Avignon. In 2009, he choreographed Offenbach’s La Périchole at l’Opéra de Lille, directed by Bérangère Jannelle. In November of 2009, Révolution was created for the ‘’Inaccoutumés’’ cadre at the Ménagerie de Verre in Paris. In April 2010, he created Призрак (Spectre) for the Monte Carlo Ballets, based on the ballet Spectre de la rose. L’homme de l’atlantique, a new piece about Frank Sinatra, was presented at the Lyon Biennale in September 2010.
He is currently leading a collaboration with amateurs at the Prisme d’Elancourt entitled Envers et face à tous, a project which brings spectators backstage.
As a performer he has worked for, among others, Andy Degroat, Elio Gervasi, Jan Fabre, Karine Saporta, Angelin Preljocaj, Charles Cré-Ange, Dominique Boivin, Sasha Waltz, Christophe Honoré, Nasser Martin-Gousset etc.
‘’Funny, elusive, surprising. So many adjectives that make you want to keep an eye on this remarkable dancer-choreographer. The specimen’s name : Olivier Dubois.’’ – Rosita Boisseau, Télérama Sortir, October 13th 2010
