FROZEN MOMMY is an evening-length work stripped bare of any theatrical spectacle or hidden narrative. In imitation of the way the human mind formulates thought, the work sets movement elements of great disparity into close proximity to create meaning. O’Connor’s incredibly versatile dancers lead the viewer on an elliptical journey which transforms the present terrors of the world into a disturbing and darkly humorous outcry. An original musical score by O’Connor and his longtime collaborator James Baker incorporates the dancers’ voices into a spare choral landscape, while Brian MacDevitt’s lighting design brings a willfully barren and artful design to the work. FROZEN MOMMY premiered at The Kitchen in New York City in December 2004. (60 minutes)

He takes us within his deep and self aware exploration about choreography, life, collaboration, teaching and process.

BABY continued O’Connor’s deep immersion into the poetics of dance exploding the metaphor of “time passing” into a dynamic, contemporary work of art. Using choreography to process information, O’Connor reveals his inimitable and penetrating aesthetic. The work is performed by his company of five dancers and continues his career-long collaborations with lighting designer Brian MacDevitt and composer James Baker.
BABY premiered at Dance Theater Workshop in New York City in March 2006. (65 minutes)
