VR_Ii s a 100% virtual dance piece in which five spectators are immersed together and in real time in a virtual space. Immersive and contemplative, the performance invites viewers, or rather their avatars to follow their own point of view. The viewers-turned-camera move around inside the installation as protagonists of their own experience. Thanks to motion capture technology, we are now capable of reproducing dance in all its fluidity. Although the set, the environment and the dancers’ envelope are virtual, movement itself is very real. Artanim’s technology is a giant step for viewer immersion by combining real and virtual environments. Thus, the boundaries between dancer and viewer are removed and both move on the same plane, at the same time and in the same space, at the crossroads of reality and ‘virtuality’.With this unique installation, the performance addresses our perception of reality and our ability to adapt instantly to possible worlds—worlds that we accept as long as they meet certain criteria of our reality. In VR_I, viewers and dancers are subject to the same physical laws, they share the horizontal axis. The actual presence of the viewers’ bodies inside a coherent physical space allows for surprising effects of scale. Thus, as they stumble into a full-scale desert, viewers-travellers can find themselves face to face with 30-metre high dancers or later, notice tiny dancers at their feet

In Bleu.Remix, the artist once more lets us experience an intimate journey through the corners of his body. While searching for a kind of a universal human being, he takes the essence of Bleu Provisoire’s concept, mixes and transforms the senses and uncovers the secret existing reality, which exists in everyone of us, even better.

Filmmaker Luc Peter accompanies acclaimed Swiss contemporary dancer and choreographer Gilles Jobin as he and his eclectic troupe of dancers work on ?The Moebius Strip 2001 in London and Paris. Classically trained Jobin’s singular approach tells stories in a very special and specific way, where time is treated as an elastic, infinite strip. Capturing the essence of contemporary dance – a rich art form that combines movement, rhythm and use of space – Peter’s documentary gives a fascinating insight into how an artist like Jobin works and lives. Absorbing and intriguing, the film works well as a companion piece to Peter’s film about performance artist ?La Ribot, who is Jobin’s partner and the mother of his son.

A sensual, fluid, hypnotic exploration of a “human sculpture”: the bodies of five dancers pass, cross, follow, intertwine with each other. A video of dance, adaptation of choreographer Gilles Jobin’s “The Moebius Strip”.
The Moebius Strip, created at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris during the spring of 2001 became one of his most emblematic pieces. “On the stage, viewed as a white painting, bodies are thrown like splashes of colors, mixed as tint areas and given rhythm by the shades of the clothes” (Rosita Boisseau). This creation evokes his father’s paintings, Arthur Jobin, which alternate between geometrical rigor and intensive vibration of juxtaposed colors.

For the past 10 years, the flame haired artist La Ribot has toured the world with performances that straddle the world of dance, visual arts and performance. La Ribot’s humorous and provocative performances make use of the body’s endless expressive possibilities – political, neutral, minimalist, simple, complex, sexual. In between performances at the Tate Modern in London, La Ribot talks candidly about her working methods and of her passion for dance and art. Peter’s film captures La Ribot’s highly individualistic personality and is an intimate portrait of one of the most vibrant and important artists of recent years.
